Purchased in 1986 by the University of Genoa, Palazzo Rebuffo – Serra is intended mainly to host the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature. It was built in 1509 by Bartolomeo Rebuffo on medieval buildings. It was enlarged in the 40s of the 17th centuries by Marco Aurelio Rebuffo. After entering the Rolli’s system in 1664, it was purchased and further expanded by the Marquis Serra. In the following enlargements were incorporated the ‘’Porta dei Vacca’’ and the remains of the walls of the twelfth century.
LOT n.1 – The aim of the project is the renovation and restoration of the building’s ground floor accessible from the entrance of via Del Campo civ. n. 65A. It involves the demolition works made to allocate the premises for commercial use: mezzanines, floors, false ceilings and modern brick masonry. It is proposed to restore ease and airiness to the ancient monumental atrium for which, through a staircase next to the still existing vault, you could access the upper floor and Piazza S. Sabina. The impact on the subsoil is limited to the replacement of existing flooring, dating back to the early 2000s.
LOT n.2 – The intervention is aimed at the reopening of some historical holes plugged internally with plasterboard and aims to eliminate the environmental degradation constituted by the metal shutters not congruent with one of the Rolli’s Buildings, which is a UNESCO heritage site. In addition, the intervention aims to align the external façade with that provided for lot n.1, through the introduction of doors that are based on the tradition of the Genoese historical building. It will also be modified the interior lighting in order to make it consistent with the new energy saving requirements, by using LED lighting fixtures.
