The structure probably originates around the year 750 d.c. when a crypt was built on the remains of a pagan temple, which today is located under the church.
The building is spread over three longitudinal fields: in the centre, the main nave, looking at the façade on the left, the square-shaped bell tower and a room used as a depot following the chapel of s. Rocco and the next one used as a sacristy; on the right side two chapels, one with a wall altar.
