Church of Carmine in Civitanova del Sannio (IS)

The Church of the Madonna del Carmelo belonged to the Monastery of the Conventuals, which was suppressed in the last century and was used as a cemetery. On the initiative of the Archpriest Batista and with the offering of the faithful, the Church was rebuilt from its foundations and decorated with stuccowork in the walls and vaults.

The church, with an adjoining convent, in which Bernardino da Siena was also a guest, is of very ancient times but was rebuilt in 1900 by Don Emilio Battista, whose body was buried there. It was build in 1550 by the conventual friars, after the unification of Italy their order was suppressed and the church began to be used for funeral functions.
